Human Resource Management
Selection is an important process because hiring good resources can help in increasing the overall performance of the organization. If the selection is wrong, then the work will be affected and the cost incurred for replacing that bad resource will be high.
Also the cost incurred in induction and training the wrong candidate will be a huge loss to the employer in terms of money, effort and time.
It is important to determine, whether a prospect's positives are sufficient to outweigh any negatives (in lack of qualification, experience, personality, skills, overall attitude, etc.) that they may carry with them.
In this process, the most suitable candidate is picked after the elimination of the candidates, who are not suitable for the vacant job.
For meeting the goals of the organization, it is important to evaluate various attributes of each candidate.
Aiyan Thiruvalluvar says
Explanation by Scholars:
Evaluate the person’s good qualities (positive), as well as his faults (negative) and then judge by that which prevails, then select.
குணம்நாடி = Positive (Qualification, Knowledge, Expertise, Attitude)
குற்றமும் நாடி = Negative
அவற்றுள் மிகைநாடி = Sufficient to outweigh
மிக்க கொளல் = Select for the job
